What stays on your device

Your recording — mic or camera capture is processed in the browser and never leaves your device.
A live speech-to-text transcript is generated locally by your browser's built-in speech engine.
Your session history is saved locally in your browser storage.
The optional pronunciation lab uses your browser's own speech synthesis (en-GB) and speech-to-text for attempt feedback.

What leaves your browser (only if you allow it)

Analysis: The text transcript of your answers (not your audio) may be sent to a hosted scoring API so you can get improvement tips. If no API key is configured, the app uses a deterministic local estimate so you can still see a demo score.
Transcription: If your browser can't do live speech-to-text (some Firefox versions, the Android wrapper, older browsers), your raw audio is sent to a hosted transcription service purely to produce the transcript — it is not stored or used for training. On supported browsers nothing is sent; the transcript stays on your device.
Cloud history (optional): If you sign in, a summary of the session (category, score, tips, transcript text — not the recording itself) is saved to your account so you can review it later.
Social publishing (optional): If you connect a social account, a text post may be published on your behalf via that platform's official API.

What Vocalis never does

It never stores or streams your raw audio or video anywhere.
It never uses your content for training or advertising.
It never sets cross-site tracking cookies.
